moulders will be able to plan longer runs than was previously the case and like Carrs
other Aluminium Alloys, AL2000 PLUS can be
polished, etch grained, hard anodised to 500HB and repaired by welding where necessary.
This alloy retains the high thermal conductivity associated with Aluminium, which ensures
a very fast cycle time compared with steel.
High-strength Aluminium alloy is also increasingly being used in the
manufacture of press tools for the base and top plates where the use of Aluminium reduces
the overall tool weight by around one half in a typical case. |
Reducing the mass of the moving part of the tool also reduces the inertia
providing the potential for higher cycle rates and rapid stopping in an emergency. This
ability to stop very rapidly has resulted in a 45% reduction in punch breakage in one
documented case.
