CHARACTERISTICS
The Alumold range of Aluminium Mould Plate consists of four main
specifications designed to meet the demands of the plastics industry. Selection of the
appropriate specification depends on pressure (mechanical stress) and mould operating
temperature.
TYPICAL APPLICATIONS
N.B. these indications are very general and specific
advice must be sought with reference to the actual application.
Alumold 1 - for injection moulding and very long run blow
moulding. Suitable for loaded polymers such as those containing glass fibre.
Alumold 2 - for shorter run injection moulding and blow
moulding.
Alumold 3 - for low-pressure processes such as shoe moulds.
Alumold 4 - for thermosets, prototyping and blow moulding.

MAJOR BENEFITS
The use of Alumold can be expected to provide significant savings over
standard tool steel where its use is warranted. High thermal conductivity is a major
advantage allowing output rates up to 50% faster than steel. In addition, product quality
is improved due to low shrinkage and warpage. Better thermal equilibrium in the mould
results in lower stress . Cooling is simplified. Ease of machining reduces time to market
and incurs much lower toolmaking costs.
