New Air-Porous Steel The Answer To A Moulders Prayer

A host of problems regularly encountered by plastic injection moulders can now be overcome with a new tool steel from Carrs.

Trapped gas at a macro or micro level can give rise to many problems including:

PORCERAX^tm behaves just like a normal mould steel in that it can be machined, polished and etch-grained. However its main claim to fame lies in the fact that it is porous to air but not to most commonly used polymers. This allows air to vent through the whole face of the tool not just through vents that may become cut off by the plastic flow.

Use of PORCERAX^tm is growing rapidly in the USA where its special properties are finding new applications day by day. Specifiers include Ford, G.M., Compaq, Bose, Motorola, Nokia and VW.
